SR-22 and FR-44 Requirements by State

This table puts the main requirements from our state guides side by side: which form each state uses, how long the filing lasts, and the minimum liability limits. Every row links to the full guide, which names the official source, shows the date it was read and flags where sources disagree. Compiled on October 20, 2026 from the guides as published.

How to read this table

States that use SR-22: Arizona, California, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Washington. States that use FR-44 for DUI cases: Florida and Virginia. States with a different mechanism or no SR-22 on official pages: Georgia (SR-22A), Michigan, New York, North Carolina (DL-123) and Pennsylvania.

Rules change, and some official pages do not state a period or fee. Where we could not confirm a figure on an official page, the row says so instead of filling the gap. For the exact wording, dates and source links, open the state guide. If your state is not listed, start with What Is SR-22 Insurance and SR-22 vs. FR-44, then confirm with your state motor vehicle agency.
